This is a fairly complete ArcMap course, with examples and videos included.
The material is a product of Rodrigo Nórbega and Luis Hernán Retamal Muñoz who embarked on this initiative, initially was in Portuguese and although the exercises are of 8 versions, its logic of execution has not changed much.
- In the first chapter Definitions and some GIS concepts are included.
- The Second Chapter It is oriented to the use of basic tools:
Layers, attributes, navigation and labeling, also includes a section of basic spatial queries.
- In the third chapter It focuses on map production, very complete in handling output layouts
- The fourth chapter The themes of vectorization and import of CAD formats, shapefiles editing, and warping of non-georeferenced data through control points are discussed.
The last two chapters are about data management, through ArcCatalog, nomenclature management, thumbnails generation, metadata and projection systems; without leaving out the integration to Ole databases and personal Geodatabase.
One of the best resources of this material are saved screen videos, where you can learn much more than with written manuals. The contents of this material are freely licensed, so they can be copied, printed and distributed for educational purposes only with reference to the author and be careful not to modify the contents (you can use literal paragraphs if you want to add content).
Update August 2011: A pity, I was staying in a domain that no longer offers the service. For what will have to wait if they are available elsewhere.
Update March 2012: Starmedia did not give continuity to the freeweb domain, where they were previously hosted, but they were able to locate in multimania.es. All the links are up-to-date, although you have to survive with shaky advertisements that are unavoidable in free hosting and symbolically compensate the free service of the authors of the tutorial.
