The registration period of the XVUMS Jornadas gvSIG, organized by the Regional Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (CIT) of the Generalitat is now open.
These will take place from 3 to 5 of December of 2008 in the Palace of Congresses of Valencia, and which will host this year the OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) Meeting, from 1 to 5 in December, and Eclipse Day on 2 in December.
Registration is free although the capacity is limited and has to be made through the form on the website of the Conference (http://www.jornadasgvsig.gva.es/cas/boletindeinscripcion/).
Next I present the invitation of Gaspar Peral:
"In just four years the gvSIG days have become an international reference in the world of Geographic Information Systems and Spatial Data Infrastructures. A meeting place where more and more experts teach us not only that it is possible to offer professional solutions in these fields based on the integration of free technologies but that these technologies end up being better than the classic solutions based on private models that do not allow the access to the knowledge.
We present solutions that faithfully follow the international interoperability standards and are also more sustainable, since it is important to remember it as many times as necessary, the use of free technologies, those that allow us access to knowledge, are the ones that go To provide the necessary independence that allows us to be free to mark the evolution of our Information Systems; Fundamental aspect for any organization.
The motto of these days is: gvSIG. Moving Forward Together. We remember that the previous days were with the motto Consolidate and Advance, in them the reflection that we raised was the following: gvSIG had grown a lot and very fast, it was the moment to put order, to consolidate all that growth in a way that would allow us to continue advancing. Well, we are ready to move forward. Our proposal now is not to walk a path already marked, but that we build this new road. Let us see ourselves, let us talk among ourselves, let us exchange ideas, opinions, etc. with the purpose of continuing to advance. But as we say in the motto of the conference: Moving together.
I do not want to finish without remembering that you will be able to observe that this year, during the days of gvSIG two complementary events will be celebrated like a meeting of the Technical Committee of the Open Geoespatial Consortium (OGC) And the holding of a Eclipse Day Hosted by another flagship project of our Conselleria as is the MOSKitt project.
Without further ado, invite them to come those days to Valencia hoping that together with the traditional kindness of our city, these days may prove to be fruitful and satisfying for you. "
