This file contains a globe with an image placed as a material on its surface. It was initially published in the blog of Shaan Hurley.
How they did it?
They created a 3D spherical object
Then they created a new material, based on this image
Then they applied it as a material to the sphere, defining a cylindrical projection. To see it you have to apply a rendered view.
In this case I opened it with Microstation XM because some strange reason made that in AutoCAD 2009 was hanging ... I think the memory of my laptop is asking for vitamins ... it seems that it happened to Shaan. But it does not matter, it looks interesting.
