Civil 3D, road design, 1 lesson

I get a request from a friend who in the land of the patepluma is working a road; Apparently he has Land Desktop so we will go a little different because what I have is Civil 3D 2008 but what difference does it make. Just for nostalgia, this was much easier in CivilSoft (Autocivil that initially worked outside of AutoCAD and generated DXF files for you), then came Softdesk and now Civil 3D.

The case:

The lifting of a road, in which you have the axis line and cross sections to the left and right of each station at each 10 meters.  In this lesson we will see how points are imported.

The data:

Somehow someone was asking you a nice template where you can enter that information without having to draw on foot. So I will get rid of that stage, because the file with the points already comes in a sheet of the Excel workbook.

Anyway here I leave the file To break the coconut to see how it works and we will concentrate on the work from the base points.

First things first:

New draw. We are going to start a new drawing, for this we make "file, new" and choose the template "_AutoCAD Civil 3D (Metric) NCS Base.dwt". This to ensure that the seed file is in metric and not English units.

Georeferencing the drawing. Let's remember that our drawing is a simple dwg that does not have a projection or coordinate system, to do this it can only be done with AutoCAD Map or Civil 3D. To do this, we do "map / tools / define Global Coordinate System" or with the command "_ADEDEFCRDSYS"

From there we will choose Category, UTM WGS84 Datum and then the 16 North zone.

Import points

To import the points, I have exported the Excel file, where is the coordinate table to csv format called geofumadasxport.csv, here They can download it If they want to do it.

Choose the format. So what comes next, is a simple import of points to AutoCAD, for this we do "Points / Import Export points / Import points" or with the command "_importpoints" and from there we choose the format that suits us: Cross section civil 3d profile

The order of the points is:

-Point

-East

-North

-Elevation

-Description

So we chose that, PENZD, in the format comma delimited (csv), we chose the file and defined that all the points will go to a group called "sb_todos".

To deploy.  Then ok and we do extended view to see the points.

This should have been created, a mesh of points, and in the side panel, in the "prospector" tab, the list of points called "sb_all" should have been created.

If it comes out as inclined upwards, it could be that you confused PENZD with PNEZD, the lees and re-import them.

If you do not get the same size of text, do not pay attention, it is a matter of format.

In the next section we will see how to filter the points to visualize them different ... I hope to have time.

  1. If it does not appear like this, you can make a direct access, leaving in the option destination the following variable:

    “C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011\acad.exe” /ld “C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Civil 3D 20111\AecBase.dbx” /p “> "

And in the option to start in:

    “C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011\UserDataCache\”

Or the path of your program

  2. You can do this when you start the program:

Start, all programs, AutoDesk, AutoDesk Civil 3D 2011

And there appears the option to start it in metric or English units.

  3. Good evening, I want some important information. I have installed autocad civil 3d 2011 and I can not find the way to change the scale of imperial drawing to metrics from the beginning, so that in the model space you can see the metric scales. Thanks in advance.
