From the 25 to the 27 of October of 2011 will be developing in Guatemala, the Second Congress of Administration of Land and Surveying under the name "Assembling the pieces for the territorial administration and development”. It is with great satisfaction that we promote this initiative, which joins a sustained trend in recent years in this country, where academia, government, international cooperation and private companies have proven to be among the best levels of innovation in the Central American region.

This congress is a continuation of the first one held in 2009 in the Petén area, constituting an enviable meeting of professionals and students of the careers related to the territorial administration.

Congress of land administration

This event is being carried out with the support of the Project "Strengthening Human Resource Training in Land Management in Guatemala", the Dutch Initiative for Capacity Building in Higher Education (NICHE) and the university centers of Quetzaltenango, Chiquimula and Petén of the San Carlos University of Guatemala.

As evidence of the intense activity carried out in Guatemala on the territorial issue, massive planning exercises are currently being carried out, with a view to building a National Planning System that allows linking, at the sectoral and territorial level, public policies, plans and budget. The idea is to integrate development planning with risk management approaches to implement land use planning plans at the local level. On the other hand, the Registry of Cadastral Information has undertaken a massive survey of cadastral information in more than sixty municipalities in the country, seeking coordination with the land administration institutions that are linked to the process.
