How to Import Excel Dots into AutoCAD

Suppose we have a list of points captured with GPS, or UTM coordinates that are in Excel and we want to draw them in AutoCAD.

In the case of users of Microstation, I explained it previously in this post, Importing from a .cvs file, adding some more points to make it more interesting.
To export from dwg to excel See this post.

1. Prepare the coordinate format

imageIn the case of AutoCAD, although the most practical thing is to do it with the old versions of Softdesk8, or CivilCAD, let's see a perverse method of how to do it without recourse to a lisp or other applications.

These are the coordinates that you have in Excel, because the objective is to pass them in the format that the autoCAD command line accepts, which would be:

X coordinate, comma, y coordinate

Such as 431512,1597077

Well, to do this, we do in excel the following, in the following column we write the formula

What we are doing is copying cell A2, then a comma, then cell B2. We do enter and copy the formula down. In case we have a coordinate in z, the same, after B2 we would make another comma and write C2.

2. Copy coordinates

This is how we have been.

  • Select all the cells in column C, then copy to the clipboard (Ctrl + C)

3 Draw the points in AutoCAD

  • Now in AutoCAD we write the command Point, (Draw / point / multiple point)
  • Now paste what you have in the clipboard (Ctrl + V) on the command line

And ready, there are your points

In case you do not see the points very well, the format (point / format style)

What ... do you know another way to do it?

To draw the traverse, just use the plando in place of the command point, and it is going to draw.

Thanks to the information of jordi, there is a macro to do it practically ... read it in the comments of this post.

  3. Hi. Goodnight. Please help me. As step to Autocad coordinates with details in Excel. Example with the name of the Point. (P1, P2, ... etc). Greetings and thanks in advance

  4. Hi, Thanks for the tutorial. I have a question, they passed me a topographic map in autocad, at the moment of entering some points to draw some additional lines in this plane using the tutorial process, it gives me a very large gap and the line comes out of the plane. What could I do? I would appreciate any help.

  5. In other articles of the site there are other types of tools for what you are looking for.

try searching the term "excel" on the site.

  6. Hello
Segui seu roteiro not AutoCad 2017, porém sem axito na adição gives a list of coordinates, just one cell at a time.
Is it possible to raise a script for the adição of the coordinates list? including or nome do ponto. Please.

    Thank you

  7. Activate the command for points, then paste the list and enter.

    That should work for you.

If those are latitudes and longitudes, the ideal is that you convert them to UTM coordinates. Well it seems that they are in degrees.

  8. -74.563289,1.214005
I have these coordinates but I am not copying the autacd 2015 that I have as I please

  9. I understand that what you want is a list of x, y, z coordinates and then import them with CivilCAD or Civil3D

You should see what the datasheet looks like.

  10. Hlaa..nesecito cross profiles with the concatenate formula of exel or with exilla .. my data are a leveling with level where I have z, and width of route

  11. Estimated

In AutoCad 2013, as you very well explain, but when you paste a concatenated list and separated x commas just paste the first record.
When you see rejected list it reports: Unknown command and displays the first record and displays it on monitor. But the following records in Unknow command shows the decimal portion of the ESTE, the separating comma of the East of the 2 ° record, the separating comma, and the North of the 2 ° record.
The decimal portion of ESTE appears to be filtered in the next record. I expect comments. Greetings .

  12. Thanks for the very interesting post but I have a mishap, when I copy the Excel points to Autocad, instead of hitting the points I hit an excel table, in that case I must do thanks

  13. You can import from a txt, with the description and everything, but not using only AutoCAD, you would have to use AutoCAD Civil3D or any other program with GIS capabilities.
If you want to do it only with AutoCAD or just with Excel, you have to write a macro either for Excel or for Autolisp.

  14. In other words, it is mandatory to use a macro. And if I export from a txt.

  15. This, north, dimension enters as variables x, y, z. Other fields such as point and description are already attributes of the text to be created, which involves using an Excel macro.

  16. A question, if I have more than variable variables the procedure varies or I can use the same, example cordenadas axis (East, North), dimension, point and description.

Thank you very much for your support.

  17. Remember that AutoCAD uses the comma as a thousand separator, so you can not say 80600,56; 890500,79
You must use the decimal point and the comma for separation of the 80600.56,890500.79 coordinate

  19. Hi. I have a nikon322, 5 ″ station, with original cable and I cannot download the data to transit 2.5
Or civilian what should I do?
so as not to stop and try to comply with the excel list, north, east, level, code take it to notes, but I can not import them to autocad 14. What step should I follow to do it and then take out the level curves?

  20. Hello fernanda. There are several possibilities.
    1. Check with a few points, if the thousands separation symbols are no longer configured.
    2. Investigate the workspace configuration, because the workspace is not infinite in a CAD file and if your points are going beyond that limit the command will send an error.
    3. If after reading you can not find a solution, send us the Excel file for a look. Editor (at) geofumadas. Com

  21. Hello! I need to draw approximately 10000, with coordinates in X and Y, I could concatenate and it is expressed something like this: 1,0.52,1.78…, the coordinate in X varies between 1 and 25.! The question is that, I save the file in SCR, and when I want to open it from the autocad command, it tells me that the file is unknown! In addition to being able to draw them, I need that every time I modify my excel spreadsheet, the autocad drawing is also modified! From already thank you very much

  22. WHERE IS THE MULTIPLE POINT COMMAND IN AUTOCAD 2015 ??????????????????????

  23. Taking into account the formula = CONCATENAR ("_ POINT"; B1; ","; A1; ","; C1; "_-TEXT @0,0,0 5 0"; D1) of Cesar, I verified why it was wrong and I managed to develop it better . Apply to insert point with description. I developed it in Autocad for Mac 2015 and it looks like this = CONCATENATE (A4, B4, C4, D4, E4, F4, G4, H4).

A4 = _POINT (with space at the end)
    B4 = X-coordinate
    C4 =,
    D4 = Y coordinate
    E4 =,
    F4 = Z coordinate
G4 = _-TEXT @0,0,0 5 0 (with space at the beginning and end) (5 number means the text size and 0 the orientation, if necessary you can modify it)

The formula is developed in the I4 cell or whatever you want.

    Thank you

  24. That is not possible.
You should program in AutoLisp. AutoDesk Civil3D makes functionalities using a database or xml data embedded in a project.

  25. Hello there,

  26. hello that such

By chance it is possible to link a table with coordinates to AutoCAD, and when the points are already there, open the excel table and modify a point and it will also change its position in AutoCAD?

  31. Thanks for your videos, they are very useful, they have helped me a lot for the autocad learning. God bless you.

  32. Review the issue of system drives. The application requires that the separation of thousands be the comma, the decimal point separation and the comma-separated lists.
Try a round coordinate, to see if it is forming at the point of your interest, then add cimales to see what happens.

Also if you can tell us which tool you are talking about, there are several and we could be talking about it. Some are to send from utm to google earth, others from geographic to google earth, let us know what you are talking about.

  33. Hello, in the file to send to Google Earth it generates the file, but all the coordinates are with the following data 180 ° 0'0.00 ″ N 74 ° 0'0.00 ″ O…. I can't understand what happens, and it doesn't show the points on the map (the file is created and the numbering and observations are observed inside it)… Thank you if you can help me… GLORIA

  34. I do not know, I can not understand all your problem
It seems to me that you have not configured commas well as thousands separators and points as decimal separators

  35. Good morning, the file to convert from UTM coordinates to Kmz file generates the file for me but it does not show the points in google and, also when I stop at the file it shows me all the points of the file with the same coordinate. In moving from geographical to UTM I have not been able to draw myself in Acad since apparently the file that I have does not work with absolute coordinates if not relative and the range is different ... How can I change it? ... The truth is I am not very shower in Acad. Thanks for what you can help me. GEDL

  36. Hello Jose Luis, sorry that I was able to reply in time. Extemporaneously it may be useful.
You have to verify that the minus sign precedes the TEXT (-text) command to resave the texts in the command line.

  37. If you explain what you are doing or copy us here part of what you are hitting AutoCAD maybe we can help you.

  38. Brother when when I post the formula he throws me a mistake that happened badly

  39. I tried to transport a point from excel to autocad, I managed to do it with the point but not the text. Apply the formula that is published and the text command is enabled, including the parameters such as letter height and rotation angle, but the text that is in the D1 cell is not inserted, the cursor remains flickering waiting for the text from the keyboard. I will appreciate any help.

  40. Excellent! valuable help, please continue so we can enrich our knowledge with everyone's contributions ...

  41. For what you occupy Jaime, this template does not work.
But AutoDesk Civil 3D can do better.

  43. I need to know more information but with notepad, thanks

  44. Review the configuration of regional variables.
Verify that the decimal separator is the period, the thousands separator, the comma, and the comma separator.

  45. I have used the xyztocad program, but it gives me the following error "error converting the string: 3213343 to double, I did it with the example you send and it shows the same error, I already checked the database and it is not repeated data, can you indicate what is happening. Thank you

  46. Hi WILLIAM
After entering the coordinates of the point is ready to receive the descriptive text of cell D by @ symbol for versions that do not have dynamic input.
@0,0,0 is used to choose the last input coordinate and use it for the following order, in this case _-text., 5 is at text height and zero the rotation angle, data that can modify your needs.
It is possible to clarify that the formula of my previous comment would be in a cell of the row 1

  47. I'm interested in entering the coordinates with the dimensions X, Y, Z but I see in the comment of ceasing on the formula
=CONCATENAR(“_POINT “;B1;”,”;A1;”,”;C1;” _-TEXT @0,0,0 5 0 “;D1) and I don't understand the last of ”TEXT @0,0,0, 5 0 1 “;DXNUMX” that to which it refers. It would be good if you make a video and upload it to the network. If you do, I would like you to send it to me. My email is
    first of all, Thanks

  49. With X in column B, Y in column A, Z in column C, description in column D the following formula is applied in column E to copy and paste in the command line of Autocad and achieve import Point with Description.
It may vary a bit according to the version but the idea is that.
    =CONCATENATE(“_POINT “;B1;”,”;A1;”,”;C1;” _-TEXT @0,0,0 5 0 “;D1)

  50. Good.
Finally it was a zoom problem, it was running but far away.
It was necessary to make a circle of 500 meters in diameter, around a known coordinate, to see that there were the lines.

Hence I suggest you zoom in, extent.

  51. Hi John.
It looks like you're not being able to move forward.
If you know TeamViewer, run it and send me a message by email:

That way you may be able to check what's happening to your machine remotely.

  52. I do not know why I do not get the polygon with those coord

  53. Well I think it is drawing, and you look at an infinite line because your display is far from the area.
Try zooming extent after executing the command (using line) to see if the deployment is located in the zone.

  54. My file is in acad.dwt
    The regional configuration is fine.
Testing with equal line comes an infinite line but not drawn by q when moving the mause also moves and clicking on any part of the work area is newly located and putting the next point does not draw me any more.
As I tell you with small numbers if you draw me.

And with this coordinates of high numbers When copying and all the coordinates according to what you explain on this page comes out the following in the command bar:

  55. The other possibility is that the units are misconfigured, that is, that the point is being considered as a comma for separating thousands.

You can see that in control panel, regional settings. Check that the point is decimal separator and the thousands separator comma and the comma is also list separator.

  56. Look at that.
You are telling me that you accept a 3,8 coordinate, that is, with a small number.
I do not know how your dwg file is, but it occurs to me that it could be that it has a workspace with a pre-established limit and a coordinate outside of it does not accept it.

Try to do another type of thing, not a point but a line.

    Command line

And see if the line is drawn or you get some message that you are out of range.

Please help me

  60. Try to follow the steps as explained. It may be that the points are already there, but you have to do Zoom size to see where they are, or change the format so they are visible.

  61. Hello. I have the data in excel concatenated. I copy them and in autocad I put point and then control + v in command but nothing comes out. Please help me

  62. Excellent publication. Very good technical contribution. I commend all of you for your altruistic gestures and urge you to move forward in the social appropriation of knowledge. THOUSAND CARDS

  63. Thanks for the help
The method was useful and fast

  64. Hello all, another way is to copy after paste it in a notepad and insert in the first line the command, either polyline (pl), point, insert blocks.

The trick is that when you save it, save it as a .scr file and load it from autocad with the script command.

In a single file you can place several commands and combine them, already goes in the creativity of each one.

Now that I remember, it is better this way if you have a block with attributes and you need to load them automatically, for example:
We have a block in the form of a square and we need an attribute to show a text.
    1. We create the square and a text, we join them and we create a block with insertion point the center of the square.
    2. We create our scr file with a structure similar to this:
    Insert block
    2,2, text1 1 1 0
    3,9, text2 1 1 0
    3. Where 1 1 0 are the scales in X and Y respectively and the last number the rotation. The important thing is to leave at the end a space for the command to be repeated.
    4. We load the file with the script command and we would have a slightly more complex “import of points”.

It's all about playing with commands.

  65. Hello everyone, I would like to know how to pass Excel data to AutoCad, BUT, I want this data to be modified in excel is modified AUTOMATIC in AutoCad

  66. That's what the post is about to explain. If you have points, we assume that you have x, y coordinates. We assume you have coordinates, z-coordinates.

Likewise, concatenate the three to import them into AutoCAD

  67. How to enter through excel abscissa points and dimensions only
    to take them to autocad

  68. how to enter points and dimensions only from excel to autocad

  69. You can use a program, according to the format that your GPS allows. For example, from gpx to dxf there are many formats, just as if your computer has cable, you can use programs like Mapsource to download it.

  70. How can I pass gps utm points to autocad? Can someone help me?

  71. Pablo, you have to convert them from Geographical to UTM.

En this link You can find an Excel template to convert.

  72. Good day!

I am a cartoonist and I would like to know .. in which way I could import geographic coordinates in civilCAD to know a distance.

    I appreciate your collaboration.

  73. Thank you very much, it helped me very much to import the points of excel to autocad but this generates me new doubts, I do not know if this allows me to place the description and / or the sequence of points since I have many and I do not know where to start to join. I thank you for your cooperation

  74. Good evening, I did the procedure with the XYZ-dxf v13.xls, but I can not join the points, the autocad does not recognize the reference of these points, I want to join them to generate the contour of the terrain, I thank you send me the answer to my email

  76. Hi, I hope you can help me and sorry for my insistence.

I have the X and Y coordinates in excel, without any problem I can pass them to autocad 2008, until there we are fine, but my question is: how can I make autocad or civilcad automatically recognize the coordinates of excel and automatically draw me the polygon, that is, autocad or civil cad dibuejn a polygon without the need to copy the coordinates and paste them in the line command.

Please, I hope you can help me explain step by step what I need to do, thank you.

    My email is

  77. Very simple:

    1. You select the same points in the column
    2. Copy (Ctrl + C)
2 In AutoCAD, you type the Pline command, then Enter
    3. Click on the command line and you paste (Ctrl + v)
    4. Enter to end the command.

With this, your polyline would be made following the same points.

  78. Good afternoon I could import the points of excel to autocad 2010 thanks to the instructions of the beginning of this blog in the same way I commented that there is a lip to enter the points of coordinates, but without a doubt what they explain here also served me, my question is the following how could join the points created by a line ???

  80. Please someone could tell me how to download xyz-dxf freeware
I can not or could you please send it to me in my mail I would thank you a lot

  81. Hello, I want to transform the coordinates of the Datum PSAD56 system to the Datum WGS84, how do I do it? …Cheers

  82. Maybe you have already explained the whole procedure, but I'm a novice, besides what I need is a simple way that when it comes to having the coordinates in x and in and from excel these draw the polygon in autocad 2008.

What happens is that I made a calculation sheet where the whole calculation procedure is performed until the coordinates of the support polygon and the details are obtained, now I would also automatically draw the polygon corresponding to the coordinates obtained autocad.

I hope you can help me but in advance for your attention thanks, my email is And I need this for a book, thank you.

  83. Hello friends, look, I already import with the concatenate command and polyline my data to autocad but now I don't know how to go from exel to autocad the description of each data that I have in exel, look at the spreadsheet that I have in the first one this point , in the second is the east, in the third the west, and finally there is the column of the description of the point. I already import my points from exel to auto cad with the command el el exel concatenate ...... and now I want to pass the descriptions of each point, cq is with another command in which you link all the coordinates and place text, give a space and place the size of the letter something like this is all that c does in the exel for when it comes out you just pass it to the autocad with the polyline command and the description is placed right where it corresponds please I would like you to help me I need it as soon as possible yes please .

  84. Well with that part is solved my problem, really a thousand thanks, I had already discovered another form with excel but very tedious, this is much easier, the multiple points.

  85. thanks I could pass exel points to autocad after consulting them

  86. I mean, that in AutoCAD there is one command for point, and another for multiple point.
In Draw / point / multiple point. Is this the one you're working with?

  87. Sorry, but if you read my statement correctly you will realize that everything is in the plural, which means that I am using more than one point. what do you think?

  88. can someone clarify my doubts? I have concatenated the coordinates in excel, but when I try to paste them in autocad with the dot command, I only create a single point, no more, and for more that I have tried I can not do them all at once, I use autocad 2006.

Can someone explain to me a better way to carry all the coordinates from excel to autocad? I would appreciate it very much.

  89. Hello everyone, in the past I tell you that it is a very good and interesting blog !! Here I leave you something, and see how you could help me ...

    My question is this:
I need in some way, to modify dimensions that are in 2D planes of Autocad and that can modify them for example of an excel spreadsheet or some other program. I only need to modify dimensions (only dimensions), then, the dicbujo I have it standardized and what I am looking for is to minimize the time modifying each dimension that composes each piece.

I hope someone can help me and can reply me on this page or to my mail

  91. regards; If someone could help me I have a small problem that is like importing data from excel to autocad. If someone could help me very grateful.

I follow the process of copying coordinates from excel to AutoCAD, however, sometimes it shows them only in 1 PRESENTATION or 2 PRESENTATION and never in MODEL. In other attempts he does not show them to me on any of the tabs. How to correct that?

  93. thank you very much! It has helped me a lot! Is very well explained.

  94. When you are prompted to specify the points, you click on the command line, and then paste.
Then zoom / extent to view the drawn data

  95. I followed the steps that are explained to pass the points of excel to autocad and always asks me to specify the point, I have autocad 2010 I do not know if the problem is there, I also have office 2007 and I can not work, I create the dwg but I do not Nothing is drawn when you open it in the autocad

  96. Thank you, your documents were very useful.
Very good work done is very helpful and clarify many doubts

  97. What do I do so that when I import points of coordinates taken with gps, I automatically transform them into one or several lines? Can it be done with some lisp?
    Thank you very much

  98. How do I make it so that when I import points of coordinates taken with gps, I automatically transform them into a line? Can it be done with some lisp?
    Thank you very much

  99. Hello Richard, with only AutoCAD you can not. You occupy a version of AutoCAD oriented to topography, which can be Land or Civil 3D.

Once you have the program, Here is the procedure.

  100. how can I draw contours using autocad 2007, I need your help, Mr. GALVAREZHN

  101. To make AutoDesk Civil 3D level curves, the normal version of AutoCAD does not have that functionality.

Once you have it, here it is The procedure for importing coordinates and generating contour lines.

  102. Please, I need to saver to transfer coordinates and coordinates in exel to autocad 2008 and generate nicvel curves.
    Thank you

  103. I need you to help me find a solution to the following
I would like to copy the enter command in autocad from this excel is there any way without having to resort to the " ";.... because when I insert texts the space is eaten by autocad

  105. If what you have are bearings and distances, take a look To this post Where you explain how to enter them and also presents a template in Excel where you can make it easier.

  106. HELLO

  107. Well I do not know what can be happening, because the texts must go to the respective elevation.

If everything is going to zero, make sure that you are setting in the configuration of the third sheet of the Excel file, that an 3D file is generated.

Try to generate the file with the original data in the example, and check if it works out, to see if the problem can be another.

  108. The points if you put them in their correct height but the point numbers not, if someone knows what may be happening I would be grateful if you could guide me ...

  109. Hello everyone, I used Hector's excel to pass data to autocad, however, it downloads the points separated from their point number, the point numbers place them all in the zero level, hopefully someone can help me solve this problem, it is urgent for me to have at day my lifting in cad, thanks in advance ...

  110. How can I calculate the limit of Points that can be drawn and manipulated in autocad? for 2007, 2008, 2009 versions

  111. hello my question is: how do I pass an excel text to autocad, I explain, for the case of generating a profile, how the abscissa vary eg. each 20 meters, in traditional method, forces us to edit each 20 meters the value of the abscissa, is it possible to create a table in excel and that in autocad appears in the xy coordinates established but with the corresponding text

  112. I need to know given a series of geographic coordinates and a depth dimension as I elaborate the form so that in autocad I can see the geographical point with its value of written height

  113. Superguau, I tried the sheet that Hectorin sent me and I really have not seen another procedure that is so simple, fast and efficient to convert data from Excel to Autocad. Thanks Hector

  114. I find the article very interesting, simple and effective.
    is appreciated

  115. Good
to access a point to Autocad, the syntax of es point coordinate, coordinate and enter.
If you know a way to give autocad a way to "read" many orders without the typist having to enter them one by one, you will have a tool that speeds up the work of drawing in autocad.
I hope to transmit a simple method to pass data from excel to autocad:
1 in excel the data taken in the field are arranged in columns: blank box - east coordinate - blank box - north coordinate
2 in the first blank box is written point or point and copies how many points you have
3 in the second box type (,) “comma”
4 the option "save as" is given and where this excel book is, choose "formatted text (space delimited)" and enter
5 The file created with the extension "pnr" is opened with word to edit it: it must remain in all the lines: POINT 4500,4500
(4500 = EXAMPLE VALUE) Note that there is no space, only after point ..
As when you have many points it is time consuming to erase the spaces one by one, in word press the "Ctrl" and "B" keys at the same time, select the replace box and in the search box activate one, two or three spaces and in replace with, leave blank
Many times the local configuration of the computer causes the decimal to be designated with a comma, so with the replace command, the comma must be changed to a point. The comma that we put to separate the coordinates is converted to a point. A handy way to change it back to a comma is to designate replace “colon dot” with “comma”.
When we have the file edited and the data in the way indicated above, we choose "save as" and the file we change the extension prn to "SCR" and we accept.
We open autocad and type in the program dialog box the command "SCR" shows us a window where we must choose the file we want and.... FINISHED DRAWING.
If the version of autocad that is used is in Spanish, one way to make the commands that are known in the English version work is to put the lguion bajp (_) before them, then if it is used in Spanish, type "_SCR"
Following the same syntax, which is copied from the dialog when Autocad is given a command, all imaginable commands can be performed. Only they don't have to write them one by one but they "dictate" them with a file that they started in excell or made directly in word: autocad recognizes a space as "enter" and an enter as "ESC" or end of the command.
I hope this advice is useful, I am a civil engineer and I know that when they have more than 100 points to type, I will be hearing the shouts of gratitude that will surely send me

  116. hello I need to draw the contour lines in auto cad as it is the easiest way having the data in coordinates (obtained from a GPS) one part and the other taken from a theodolite. It is urgent……….-

  117. To concatenate more columns, you use the same criteria, it would be for example

    = CONCATENATE (A2, ",", B2,"," C2)
What I have done is to add another string, which contains a comma, so goes in quotes and then a column more that in this case would be C

  118. when I enter the X, Y, Z coordinates in autocad that I have to do to see the Z coordinate, because I entered them with the concatenate formula but I see only the X, and thanks

  119. I wonder I have a garmin gps the colorado there is some way to configure your degree of constant presicion to at least 2 meters

  120. Any work must be built in the "model" tab, there the work comes out at a 1:1 scale and allows all kinds of adjustments.

The other tabs "presentation" or as they are called in English "layouts" are to build arrangements at the time of printing and their scale is conditioned to the settings of the paper space.

  121. I still work with the command line and I found the following drawing in the main window in model is not appreciated, but in the tab 1 presentation looks but very small but one enlarges it and is the complete drawing but for me it is better to work in the Model tab I'll keep trying

  122. Good to know that it worked, and yes, it looks better if you use polyline.

  123. the command in autocad 2008, is polyline maybe many do not appreciate it like I did at the beginning because it gave command line but in autocad 2008 is polyline thanks that drawing comes out right away

  124. I recommend for profile drawings to use the land desktop, it is much simpler and faster to do this type of work than in autocad ..

  125. Review the order of the procedure:

Polyline command, copy the coordinates, paste the coordinates, enter

    Then zoom in full view

  126. use concatenate to pass points from excel to autocad 2008, work with coordinates utm input the data of cut and paste accepts them but I do not see anything nor points nor drawing because nothing wonder will be that I have to configure something in the autocad so that they can be seen or appreciate, as an example 408500,1050432 coordinates question will be very large numbers will have to configure something that can see it on the screen of autocad that the spreadsheet concatenate is practical and simple and it works but I ask you to adjust something, I do not know if is scale that will be to appreciate the points or the drawing my mail is I thank you for the response you can send me thanks

  127. Greetings to all someone can tell me if there is any macro that allows me to make longitudinal profiles both plant and profile I will be grateful.

  128. Greetings and congratulations for this wonderful site, which serves us who are not very good at drawing topographical plans, work with topography and would like if there is some way to draw longitudinal profiles for sewers exporting excel data, thanks

  129. To see, what are you doing wrong.
1 In autoCAD, multiple point command
    2. In Excel, you select the concatenated points in column C, and you copy (ctrl + C)
3 In AutoCAD, on the command line you click and then paste (Ctrl + V)

    and that's it

  130. As they are, I am trying to import points from excel to autocad, I have already tried with the macro and only appears the table with the points, also tried to take them directly to the autocad and either, someone knows about that

  131. Manuel, if you still can not do it, contact me by mail

    Editor (at)

To see if I can help you

  132. Hello, I have been trying to import points from Excel to Autocad, following the procedures but I do not draw the points in autocad only the table appears, someone could help me.

  133. You might be drawing, zoom in full view to see if they are displayed

  134. Hello, I have been trying to import Excel points to Autocad, following them, but I do not draw the points in autocad, only the table appears, someone could help me

  136. Hello I have the autocad Spanish .. I did the procedure indicated above… Concatenate .. and I pass it from excel to cad .. but nothing happens ……

  138. hello Oscar, you can paste here what you hit in autocad to see if there is something wrong

  139. I tried to use the method you mentioned but it does not work, I do everything in Excel and then I tell you in autocad multipoint, I copy the excel ahy and nothing happens, the procedure is not done, I do not know if it is doing something wrong.

    I'd appreciate your help

  140. Bruss, to make sure it works for you, try entering the rounded data, for example 680358 and 4621773 to see if the points are drawn. If so, then check the regional configuration of your machine because the comma for separation of thousands and the decimal point must be misconfigured

  141. Hello Bruss, select everything that is where the point goes, and then displays the properties table, to see if all the points are going to the same place or that only one point is drawing

  142. Of the fucking is all this, I already send but only appears a single point the others nothing that I can do help, thanks that good is the inter

  143. Thank you very much… .. seeing yours has helped me find the problem. Indeed, it was the commas, but although I have solved it, it seemed very strange to me because the problem is that when converting to degrees, I would put -0,82 º (for example) when I should put -0.82 …… ..I have changed it in the system and that's it (although I don't like it, because I used the point to make the thousands separators)

Anyway, now I have the doubt of how, from all these points that I believe, to unite them to make a route… .. could you help me? Thank you very much again

  144. Well if I do not know what will happen to your computer, then I've done it and it comes out this file, Which I imagine is near the area where you did the survey.

  145. Uff… .I go crazy.

I have looked at the regional configuration and I see that it is correct. In fact, I think the excel macro does its job well because I opened the file with the notepad and I see that the coordinates of the point are correctly transformed to degrees, etc.

The problem comes when opening that kmz in, since it always sends me to a certain "dump of the dam la quebrada" at 833968,75 E; 5,41 N…………..I don't understand anything.

Thank you so much for the speed in answering.

  146. Fernando, to make sure you're working, try entering the rounded data, for example 680358 and 4621773 to see if they fall in the area. If so, then check the regional settings.

  147. Fernando, make sure that your regional configuration (control panel, regional configuration) is correct, meaning that the separation of thousands is as a point and that of decimals as a comma.

Also make sure you are choosing the correct order, easting 680.358,95, northing 4.621.773,92

I probe it and I fall in a zone of cultures to norotest of of river Galician

  148. Joer …… .I must be a bit useless. What I want to do I think is quite simple. I have the UTM coordinates of a plot: 680.358,95 4.621.773,92 something like that, for a few consecutive points. (It is in Villamayor de Gállego- Zaragoza- Spain)

I have tried to put it in google earth in many ways, but something happens because it goes a lot to the north (to the sea ...).

I have tried with the EPoint2GE by putting those columns and putting UTM zone 30 and north, and what I said, it goes to shit (besides that I do not see any route of points ......)

I downloaded google earth pro and tried to import them through a csv, and with that I didn't even get to anything because it gives me an error …… ..

Somebody help me please?? I've wasted all morning with this…. :(

  149. Thank you
My cordenads are going to be psad56, 17s
I think it is another poryeccion, there are q cnvertirlas? Is there any program for it
    thanks for the help
    I am in Peru

  150. Jose, the values that you have are UTM coordinates, surely, what happens is that you occupy to know in which datum they have been taken for example WGS84, NAD27 or another, that you can see in the configuration of your GPS coordinates system. You also occupy knowing the area in which you are and hemisphere, as I explain in this post so you know where the utm coordinates come from.
In case of being wgs84, which is the one that accepts google, with this tool you can convert it to archlive kml, which is the one that uses google earth.

  151. hello friends I am new in this I have a doubt I have some points in my gps and I want to pass them to google example one point is 0491369 and 8475900, I saw the transformation sheets but the values are given in utm or geographies and my data I think are like those of the column for cad
Greetings my friends, this page is very good

  152. how to export coordinates from excel to autocad with its description example x, y, description

  154. As you mention galvarezhn, the concatenate, can you add attributes to the points? As the quota and the point number? The same question for the macro that Jordi mentions. Thank you very much.-

  155. Very interesting this forum, thanks for your contributions, I had been looking for software to solve this. I found two, I have not tried them yet, does anyone know them? One is the Excellink of Xanadu and the other InnerSoft Cad. Do you know if they serve to solve this problem and also how Jorge Alejandro explained that the autocad drawing was updated when making changes to the Excel spreadsheet?

  156. The options that show us, are clear and precise, put them into practice and sure will have good results.

I want to know, if possible, when editing an excel sheet or table, from
Excel, esdecir that for some reason has to change, a coordinate, when open the cad, has been updated?

    In advance thanks for everything

  157. Actually it is very good your suggestion and it is worth many thanks so for our friends are interested the same and much more can be done with TOPCAL

  158. Hi Rafael, what you want to do with Excel is done by selecting the cell, right button and choosing cell format.
Then in the “border” tag you can choose which sides of the cell you want the line to be on and to the right of the line style.

With your second question… I give up, I haven't used it much because it's so troublesome.

    all the best

  159. I need to be able to change line styles for others that are not the ones that excel offers me in their choice of cell formats. How to get others other than the ones that excel shows! Thank you

    I'm in your hands!

I have another question and about that I have a local network with 50 computers and they all have an IP set manually by me and everything is perfect but I have two "LAPTOPS" with windows vista that when the cable is disconnected to take them home, they always lose the manual ip and I must put it back every day. This is driving me crazy.

Thanks and appreciate your help !!

    Grateful Rafael

  160. Hi José, if you are more specific maybe we can help… what do you want to copy, just an excel table or data to the command bar?

  161. Very interesting page
Hello, could someone tell me how to enter texts from an excel sheet to a drawing in Autocad.

  162. Hi Roberto, let's see if I understand your question.
If what you want is a program with which you can automatically convert scanned objects to vector, perhaps microstation discards, or AutoCAD Raster Design, will be more useful for you. With these you can semi-automatically convert elements that have certain types of characteristics such as curves, dimensioning, text, circles, shapes, lines ... and the system converts it to vector although for this the scan must be tiff and of good quality.

If what you are doing is drawing on the scanned image, the most appropriate is microstation or autocad, you only create the levels, give it color, line type or line style, then activate the level on which to work and trace.

  163. Thank you very much for the help you provide, I am doing an electrification project and I have a scanned plane and I want to digitize it and convert it to a DWG format and can layer each element of the plane as (contour lines, river roads, etc.) since on that plane I must draw the electrical networks, and deal with the TraceArt, Win Topo, Illustrator cs2 and I do not have good results or maybe I have not done them as they should be, because I just start in this field. Thanks a lot

  164. Thanks Jordi, I have tried it and it works very well. I'm glad to have awakened those who are already struggling with this

  165. The macro that commented on the previous post you can download it from several pages (eg., XYZ-DXF), and ITT programmed Juan Manuel Anguita Ordonez, from Jaen (to Caesar what is of Caesar).

For example, I use it to start the drawing of surveys in planimetry. I do not recommend adding codes in order to 'weather' in Autocad (although the sheet specifies that they must be entered; it is not necessary), but that will suit everyone.

The macro is simple and very powerful. First, and although it may seem silly, make sure you have macros enabled in excel.

In a first sheet (the one that appears by default when opening the macro) you will find the COORDINATES tab. As it could not be otherwise, this is where we will paste numbers of points and coordinates X, Y, Z. I remember that only if X and Y are entered, the macro generates 0 dimensions for each of the automatically entered points.

In the second tab, PREVISUALIZATION, clicking on Update Views will get a preview with the cloud of points to generate.

Finally, in the OPTIONS tab, we will introduce parameters such as the height of the labeling text of the point in CAD, if we want the point to be generated in 3D or 2D and if the dimensions of the generated points are shown or not. I comment, regarding the box to enter the file name, that automatically the path where the * .dxf will be generated is C: \. It will only remain 'Click to create the dxf'

Simply import the * .dxf from any CAD.

    All the best

PS: Hectorin, we sure agree that the macro works faster than the solution proposed by galvarezhn, but it is important not to forget that we spend hours with spreadsheets and that, in some way, we have the ability to power ' manipulating 'a spreadsheet to do more than addition and subtraction is something to keep in mind and should be known by a technician in our field. Although slower, the method seems interesting in case of not having any 'help' like the macro mentioned above.

  166. Thanks Hectorin, I have used this method for answering the question that came to me, but that this space serves to make other solutions appear.

  167. I have an excel file which contains a macro that sends the coordinates to autocad along with the name of the point and code if it is required, it is better than your method .. if someone needs to send me their mail to

  168. I find it very interesting and easy to do thanks

  169. I find the contribution you propose very interesting, since it shows that we do not have to 'confer' everything on small programs or macros, although it must be recognized that sometimes they make our lives easier :-).

Anyway, there is a small macro for Excel, about 400 kb, which allows you to do what you say and personally find it a wonder. It's called XYZ-DXF, and you can download it for free (it's freeware) if you look it up.

It's another way to do it

    All the best
