KloiGoogle, connect Google with your GIS program

This is an application that goes beyond the simple, but in practice solves what we all want to be as simple as:

From this side Google Maps ->

Satellite Layer
Hybrid layer
Map layer
Topographic layer
On this side, my GIS programArcGIS
Microstation Bentley Map

For a moment I thought it was something like what it does Plex.Earth with AutoCAD, it's not like what AutoDesk Civil 3D does, nor is it loaded with the Microstation V8i tool. Unlike, this does not bring an object that is not possible to refresh, but rather it raises the service with the possibility of updating to a new approach.

See, in this case it makes a synchronization to the approach that I have of all the subdivision. This is almost like making a screenshot.

But when zoomed in, the image is displayed at the size of pixels captured by the monitor in a 1024 × 768 display.

By pressing the Google button, this is updated and I have a new display as if it were directly connected to Google Maps.

It is simply functional. What it does is that in each deployment, it calculates the center of the box, considers the approach parameter that we have chosen and then goes to the ActiveX and raises the Google stream and brings it as a raster.

The horizontal bar has different options, in this case I am showing them in Microstation.

  • Among the options, you can choose the UTM zone in which we are working.
  • Also the type of deployment, which can be satellite image, maps, hybrid and topographic map.
  • It has an additional option, in which it can be updated automatically, recognizing the level of Google's approach to ours. Then also choose the capture size in pixels and at the end the magic button that updates; with this it might be possible to get significant deployments if we are connected to Google Earth Pro at the maximum zoom and then save them as local layers.

Best of all, it works with ArcGIS, Mapinfo, GeoMedia and Microstation. I think it's a breakthrough in interaction with Google Earth. There is no support yet for AutoCAD, for that you can use Plex.Earth Although they have promised to do so in the future.

I remember seeing these Danish guys showing something in Amsterdam last year. For this I hope to see something else, because apart from what I have shown also have other solutions that are concentrating on GIS4mobile.
