New challenges in the data dissemination policy

Technological advances in this area have been numerous in recent years and its rapid evolution has raised new challenges in the data dissemination policy and in legal aspects, this together with the development of free computer programs, and the existence of standardized geographic data. of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI), have largely made it possible for citizens to access existing geographic information, which enhances access to information and therefore economic development. Various regulations such as the European Inspire Directive, the New Order on data policy of the National Geographic Institute or the free and free use of geographic data
promoted by the Canary Islands Government, they are an advance of the new data dissemination policies, and the paradigm shift towards cooperative and decentralized action. 

This is why for this 23 and 24 of April of 2009 have been programmed the III Jornadas of Geographic Information Systems and Local Administration promoted by the Insular Cabildo of La Palma.
