Plugin for ecw services with AutoCAD
ERDAS has just announced a new plugin for AutoCAD that allows access to images (ECW and JPEG 2000) by means of a protocol called ECWP.
ECW is a format that has many advantages, mainly the compression without significant loss of quality, since a tiff image of 200 MB can weigh up to 8 MB; Very handy for desktop management and web publishing purposes.
It is understood that with this plugin, AutoCAD (desktop) applications can now connect to IWS services, which would allow many companies to take advantage of access to images without having to call them via raster manager ... and should consume less resources from the PC
