… And geobloggers gathered here…

Someone had to materialize this idea of sitting in the same space, a group of people totally different in personality, thought and cultural context, but added to the variant of being Spanish speakers, are intensely passionate about what happens in the geospatial context.

This is the "I National Meeting of Geobloggers", promoted within the framework of the First Congress of Geomatics Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Valencia. For the organizers it certainly has not been easy, considering that in three hours they are expected to have an inspiring vision of how this came to be, what role they play in influencing the masses and where it could evolve.

It will be interesting, considering that the pattern of what a Geoblogger should be nobody ever defined. It simply evolved as a result of individual, collective and conjunctural initiatives; some were born as a hobby, others as a temporary passion, others as a suggestion from a third party for an afternoon of beers and fry. Also not all survived in time, some even had their sabbatical period and resurfaced again.

No matter how they got there, in the end they are people, “Geobloggers”. Listening to this context will give a dimension that little is known about who are behind that new entry on a Monday at 10 in the morning, the link on Twitter at 12 noon, or the photograph of the work team. on Wednesday. Beyond the popularized name or brand, who is the Geoblogger when we hear him talk about a topic that we barely have a few minutes because the next one is coming.

Formal, furry, casual, popular or anonymous, the group of Geobloggers has reached a stage where individual influence is no longer important, but the group with respect to what happens in the niche of technologies applied to earth sciences . Whether we like it or not, academia, the open source context, private companies and, above all, private users came to be aware of what the Geobloggers closest to their discipline say, tell and even in some cases propose in their oracle.

No one named them Geobloggers, this is hardly the first meeting, we will be able to hear the "before", but we will have to be aware of what happens in the "after", since in these times of globalization, it is not possible to stylize between the who writes individually once a month, the one who Tweet every 2 hours or the one that represents a collective blog. Undoubtedly everyone has a participation fee.

What is that fee ... we will understand it in consensus after the event of this 5 of July.
