The systematization of good practices

A year ago we had a tired graduate of systematization that lasted more than 120 hours, has developed a lighter version oriented more to the good practices.

This is one of the simplest forms of systematization, which may well include experiences as processes but in which relevant practices are chosen for those who have carried them out and which are favored by their results. As a product, documents are easy to build and handle, which reflect the most important of the action; in this case, good practices in municipal and community management.

That is good practice.

systematization of good practices We have based ourselves on a methodological guide for the systematization of good practices, which was only being produced by the Municipal Decentralization and Strengthening Program "Municipalities Democráticos" of Guatemala, of which I spoke to them some days ago.

Good municipal practice is understood to be a management experience that has been relevant for the building institution, the local territory and its inhabitants due to its positive effects on the provision of services, promotion of development or improvement of people's well-being. Additionally, the good practice must have verifiable results and continuity of positive effects over time.

What characteristics should a good practice have?

Among the characteristics that have been considered are:

  • Clear leadership on the part of the authorities or decision makers
  • Motivated work teams
  • Opening to other groups
  • Environment conducive to change

From this, a matrix of about 13 aspects to be evaluated has been obtained for the moment of prioritizing the different proposals to be systematized. Some methodological criteria were considered for the weighting of relevance, such as the capacity for entrepreneurship, mobilization or dependence on additional resources, community participation and capacity for local consultation.

What results have we obtained

systematization of good practices The course and the audience are technicians and officials from different municipalities and associations, in total at least 22 good practices have been obtained that will be systematized in both Local Economic Development, Citizen Participation, Joint Management, etc. In my case, for the cadastre and land use planning area, we have brought 4 people with whom we have chosen to systematize at least 7 good practices, some conventional and others innovative for our environment:

  1. Implementation of rural cadastre through affidavit
  2. Implementation of technified urban cadastre
  3. Use of total station in the cadastre
  4. Digital integration of cadastre data
  5. Digital integration of tax control
  6. Cadastral Survey in Commonwealth
  7. Integration of interregional oversight

The product format

It has used a simple format, in fascicle form containing at least these 8 aspects:

  1. Title
  2. Summary
  3. Development of experience
  4. Castles and Fortresses
  5. Weaknesses
  6. Relevant results
  7. Responsible
  8. Credits

There is more than a month to get the products, and as an incentive there is the possibility of technological prizes of high esteem.
