The winners of the BE Awards

A few days ago we published The list of semifinalistsLast night has been the award ceremony, this event does not have the dimension of the ESRI, where they must place screens in the middle of the audience, but for the clients, users and technicians of the Bentley line it is their best gala.

About the event

In particular, I found it less expectacular than the other years, perhaps the presenters have not had all the charisma, it could be that there seemed to be fewer people, it could influence that there was only a geospatial award ... or maybe the habit of having witnessed another similar event and this time to be a press guest, not a nominee.

But the show has been good, with cruel American humor copied from the Oscars, lights, music and special effects in the giant screen presentations. The food, exquisite, the drink… let's not say, at the end a group encouraged with songs from the 70-80s; in short, pretty good.

The delivery of the award to Hackman's veteran, which was presented by Greg Bentley who took some time to talk about how this man who has just retired, came almost from nothing to be very important in General Motors ... inspiring! !!

The winners

In the Geospatial categoryOn this occasion, only one prize has been offered although projects with GIS implementation won other awards; I previously told you about the Eight semifinalists, Of these just became finalists three:

• Surveying and Mapping Bureau of Zhejiang, a Chinese project of Basic Line of the digital graphic scale of production in the province of Zhejiang (it is the closest I have managed to translate ... and I think that for such an ambiguous name they have not won, hehe)
• Marshalls Office of Lower Silesia, a Dutch project with The Lower Silesia E-government initiative, enabling sustainable developments ... I had the feeling that this would win by taking the theme of the event (sustainable infrastructures)
• It was a shame that the National Center for Records from El Salvador will not even reach the finalist, the prize was taken by the Information System for the management of water assets and sewage management (Istanbul project of ISEMBIS) ... for the second time, I remember Have talked to them of the previous prize some time ago.

The statistics:

• 12 of the 18 awards have been for companies in the United States, the other 6 awards have been almost one per continent:
• Russia and Germany for Europe, where they had 40 Semifinalists
• Turkey and India for Asia, where they had 22 semifinalists
• Australia for Oceania, where they had 7 semifinalists
• South Africa for Africa, where 8 had finalists.

This shows that the large market of Bentley is still the United States, although it has gradually reached many countries mainly in the line of Civil Engineering and Industrial Plants.   In conclusion, it was not bad, in the end all the posters had their badge of winners, they gave out some nice cups, the winners took their prize, they took pictures for the memory ... and the Corona were at the order of the night.
