Bentley Systems announces that OpenSite Designer is now available

Exceptionally integrates reality modeling, optimization and automated deliverables to accelerate advances of digital twins for civil works designers

Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the global provider of comprehensive software solutions and digital twin services to promote design, construction and infrastructure operations, today announced the availability of OpenSite Designer, its integrated application for work cycles of civil works and urban development during the conceptual, preliminary and detailed design phases. OpenSite Designer promotes BIM through the complete 3D site design, which encompasses realistic 3D modeling of site conditions from drones and scans, geotechnical analysis, terrain modeling, site mapping and optimization of leveling, modeling and analysis of storm water drainage, modeling of underground services, production of detailed drawings and animated visualizations.

OpenSite Designer allows a rapid and repetitive conceptual design, taking advantage of the contextual information obtained through point clouds, realistic 3D meshes, GIS and other sources to better understand the conditions existing on the site. Interoperability with geotechnical engineering solutions PLAXIS and SoilVision Bentley helps improve site plans with new information about active soil properties, including bearing capacity, stresses and displacement.

With OpenSite Designer, users can create intelligent 3D models that contain site information, terrain data, parking lots, slabs for buildings, accesses, sidewalks, plot design and elements related to the work. During the preliminary design, the construction engineer can complete and subjectively improve the layout, while taking advantage of the automatic optimizations, which respond to technical changes. To complete the digital work cycles of the project, OpenSite Designer fully supports the detailed design of the construction engineer, including the production of all project deliverables.

For many construction engineers, OpenSite Designer will promote the design of civil works going from traditional 2D plans and profiles to an 3D modeling environment, guaranteeing a more efficient analysis of hydraulic, geotechnical, geospatial and earth moving data. OpenSite Designer, which incorporates the analytical optimization of technology SITEOPS of Bentley, is the successor of the design capabilities of works of PowerCivil, topoGraph, GEOPAK Site, InRoads Site y MXSite of Bentley.

"The collaborative nature of digital work cycles that merge analysis and simulation with design and modeling is reflected in our new OpenSite Designer. We are excited to have for the first time a complete solution for the design of works and urban development to accelerate the digitalization of construction engineers. Dustin Parkman, vice president, integration of civil infrastructure design at Bentley Systems.

"At Langan, we are always looking for opportunities to differentiate ourselves from the competition thanks to our technical excellence and experience. During the planning phase, we have used SITEOPS to optimize the site, analyze earth movements and identify costs. Now we hope to use OpenSite Designer to also produce our detailed designs and documentation. " Michael Semeraro, Jr., PE, PP, managing partner, EVP, Langan International.

In the words of Greg Bentley, CEO of Bentley Systems: "It is interesting that, after three decades leading the advances in civil engineering software, the culmination with OpenSite Designer, a very accessible and necessary application that combines a perfect adaptation to the objective with unprecedented ease of use and adoption. Indeed, it contributes what we consider to be the indispensable characteristics of the digital twins of infrastructure: the realism of the images, the veracity of the simulation and optimization and the fidelity with the intention of design throughout the revisions. The job satisfaction of the construction engineers and their work designs will greatly benefit from the great advances introduced by OpenSite Designer. Do not hesitate to try it! "
