Time Space Map Is an application developed on the Google maps API which adds that component called the fourth dimension to the maps. I mean time.
What happens in a South Cone deployment, I select that I want to see events happening between 1400 and 1500.
Well, the answer is this map, which shows me some Wikipedia events, mapped such as:
- The Inca empire under Pachakuti (1437-1462)
- The foundation of Machu Pichu (1439-1459)
- The Inca Empire under Pachakuti and Thupa Inka (1462-1470)
- The Inca Empire under Thupa Inka (1470-1492)
This development and Local Look are some of the ones that have impressed me the most. The first for its Ajax functionality, this for the fact of being collaborative and as Wikipedia can become a base of global interest ... although it does not have a large amount of data yet.
The ways to look for are:
Where: You can choose a specific location, such as Barcelona, Spain or a map box.
When: You can put a specific date as Oct 1998, or a range like the one I used 1400-1500
Which: You can enter keywords for what you are looking for, such as "Wars".
Surely soon you will find ways to integrate wikipedia data in a massive way, in several languages and will surely be a point of reference for students and bloggers.
