Dimensioning with AutoCAD - Section 6

27.2.8 Coordinate dimensions

Coordinate dimensions show the X or Y coordinates of the selected point, only one of the two depending on where the coordinate is located or specified between the options in the command window.

27.2.9 Arc length dimension

The arc length dimension shows the actual length of the arc and not the distance that its segment covers. As always, the video will say more than a thousand words.

27.2.10 Inspection dimension

An inspection level carries, along with the value of the dimension, a label and a percentage that represent instructions to the workshop for the manufacture of the piece. These data must be added on an already elaborated dimension. The specific label and the percentage value depend, of course, on the engineering area or the use that you simply want to give it.

27.3 Guidelines

The guidelines serve to indicate the details of the drawings on which you must add a note. These lines usually have an arrow and can be straight or curved. In turn, the text of the note can be short, two or three words, or several lines. In any of those cases, the use of guidelines is the method by which the designer adds all relevant observations.
To create the guideline, we indicate the start and end point of the line, then we write the corresponding text, with which it is finished. If we want to use the options to, for example, convert the straight line to a curve, then, before indicating the first point, we press “ENTER” to see its options in the command line window. It's also helpful to note that once the line segment is defined, the ribbon presents a contextual tab with tools we've seen before for creating multiline text.
