Editing Objects with AutoCAD - Section 4

CHAPTER 21: THE PALETTE PROPERTIES

When we create an object, a circle for example, we indicate certain coordinates for its center, then, according to the selected method, we give a value for its radius or its diameter. Finally we can change its line thickness and its color, among other properties. In fact, each object is actually a set of parameters that define it. Some of these parameters, such as color or line thickness, may be common with other objects.
All this set of properties of individual or group objects can be seen in the Properties palette, which shows, precisely, all the characteristics inherent to the selected object or objects. Although we do not only consult the properties of the object, we can also modify them. These changes will be immediately reflected on the screen, so this window would then become an alternative method to edit the objects.
To activate the Properties palette, we use the corresponding button in the Palettes section of the View tab.

In the example above, we have selected a circle, then we have simply changed the X and Y coordinates of its center, as well as the value of its diameter in the “Properties” window. The result is the change of position of the object and its dimensions.
When we select a group of objects, the properties window presents only those that are common to all. Although the drop-down list at the top allows you to choose objects from the group and show their individual characteristics. Conversely, of course, when there is no object selected, the properties window displays a list of some parameters of the work environment, such as activation of the SCP, active color and thickness.
